Expect roots almost everywhere, wooden bridges including one tall crossing, man-made log climbs, jumps and short, steep ups and downs. Parts of the loop run alongside Route 55, so you’ll hear the highway in places.

HOW WE RIDE IT

HOW WE RIDE IT.

Park in the gravel lot and ride the full loop. Riders say a full lap takes one to two hours, and drop your tire pressure a bit if the roots are damp.

The markers can be hard to follow in spots, so a GPS track helps the first time out.

BEFORE YOU GO

RIDE IT RIGHT.

WET ROOTS

Roots get slick and some low spots hold water. Give it a day or two after heavy rain.

TICKS + HEAT

Tick check after the ride, and bring extra water on hot days; parts of the loop are in the sun.

PARK RIGHT

Avoid gated or restricted lots. It’s an active campus.
